Yuan DingBio: Yuan Ding received the bachelor’s degree fromBeihangUniversity, Beijing, China, in 2004, themaster’s degree from Tsinghua University, Beijing,in 2007, and the Ph.D. degree from the Queen’sUniversity of Belfast, Belfast, U.K., in 2014, all inelectronic engineering. He was a Radio Frequency (RF) Engineer withthe Motorola Research and Development Centre, Beijing, China, from 2007 to 2009, and was anRF Field Application Engineer, responsible for highpower base-station amplifier design with FreescaleSemiconductor Inc., Beijing, China, from 2009 to 2011. He was a Research Fellow with the ECIT Institute, Queen’s University of Belfast,Belfast, U.K.from 2014 to 2017. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor with the Institute of Sensors, Signals and Systems (ISSS), Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, UK.

Research interests: His research interests are in antenna array, physical layersecurity, and 5G related areas.Dr. Ding was a recipient of the IET Best Student Paper Award at LAPC2013 and a recipient of the Young Scientists Awards in General Assemblyand Scientific Symposium, 2014 31st URSI. In particular, he has led the world efforts in laying a theoretical and experimental foundation of directional modulation technique, which is a promising physical-layer wireless security solution.
